MDV install
Various parts of installation require light/heavy loads on optical drive. These types of error messages are generally result of:
1. Bad optical drive
2. Bad or marginal disc tracks that MD5sum OK, but do not read properly "under load"
Try reburning your disc
Using an older brand name CDROM for installation almost always cures these errors, although I know for laptops that may be a hassle
good luck

fixing [no hdlist....] error
I fixed it.
Here's how.
1. Compare the md5 checksums of the ISOs with the ones on the server.
If they're correct, continue to step 2. If not, redownload, do step 1.
2.Burn ISOs to disc at the slowest available burning speed. For instance, 4x instead of 24x.
3.That should solve your problems. My conclusion is that the error is a direct result of corrupt or missing data.
