And another question how can I see/choose what swap space the Mandriva ...

Hi - If you open a terminal up and type
df
that should tell you about disk usage. As for your sound, have you altered the settings in Kmixer (if you're using KDE)?
You might like to check which sound server you're using. I think ALSA is the best. If you are using this, then try running alsaconf
It should help you set things up.I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso

the df command output is:
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/hda5 20G 3.9G 15G 21% /
/dev/hda1 128G 100G 28G 79% /mnt/windows
what should i do with it ?
And I'm a complete noob i linux so i tried to install alsa but i don't know what i did
can you tell me exactly what to do ?
