Mandriva 2006 install problem
To prove my hardrive is not faulty:
1.Windows XP was loaded like a week ago
2.I placed a partition of Mandrake linux 9.0
3. i then deleted windows and left mandrake partition
4.Reinstalled Windows XP(i know i know, horrible operating system)
5.deleted windows XP then tried to load Mandriva 2006 DVD Powerpack
When i first tried to load the powerpack mandriva
it said could not partition
so i messed around with FDISK in DOS
i eventually got one Primary partition and an EXT3 partition
i reloaded Mandriva and it partition correctly this time
But it loaded with errors and when i boot it up the cdrom shows
but soon it disappears(wierd)
if u have any info on why it is messing up and will not install any of my linux games such as quake 3 and unreal tournament please help...sorry if not enough info

Hello
I can see you trying to provide a lot of information there, but a couple of things I don't understand. Are you trying to dual boot Windows and Mandriva?
What do you mean when you say, 'the cdrom shows'. I don't get that. What were the errors you got (post them here?)
Are you able to boot into Mandriva and get a desktop?I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso

Im confused too!?

yes i get to boot to a desktop and no it is not a dual boot with windows..and i did not write the errors down
but i may reinstall to see..
when i first booted to linux the cdrom appeared and i attempted to install Quake 3 but the error saying that "kd software manager is not running" appeared so i looked and no cdrom mount(sorry i dont have errors)
im assuming that my partitions are messed up because linux would not install until i messed with MS-DOS partitioning through FDISK
the disc could be a faulty burn too but..im doubting it
i will provide more info such as errors soon
