Mandrake 10.1 install problems

I formated my drive and put in the first Madrake 10.1 CD. it boots to cd just fine, and I hit enter on the first welcome screen to begin the installation. It finishes detecting the usb and other hardware and continues just fine.
a blue screen is displayed with an "X" for the mouse pointer. Then... Nothing. it just sits there and doesn't do anything.

What am I doing wrong. Anyone help me out?

I would like to install Mandravia onto a hard drive that already has WINXP.

What I have done:

Downloaded Mandravia ( 4 CDs)
Burned the ISO images to CDs, not Data CDs.
Partitioned the hard drive with Partition Magic and installed Boot Magic.
The first partitioin is XP, the last partition is LINUX ext.
The CD ROM is the first boot drive.
Inserted the first Mandravia CD and restarted.


PROBLEM:

there is AN ERROR Initializing.

What is the easiest way to install Mandravia?

By using Boot Magic?
By inserting CD and restarting?
I tried that.
