Mandriva keeps freezing
I'm quite new to Linux and I have just installed Mandriva Linux, but it just freezes after some minutes when I'm doing something in KDE, and I can't do anything. Not even move the mouse or change to the command line.
Do someone know how to fix this?
I't doesn't happen if I'm working on terminal 1 (Ctrl+Alt+F1).
I'm also having Windows on an other partision, if this could be the reason?

Does Ctrl+Alt+Backspace successfully shutdown/restart X? Does anything appear in your /var/log/messages or ~/.xsession-errors (if the latter exists)?

If you are using Mandriva 2006, you may wish to disable or uninstall kat because some people using it have had similar problems as you.

Also check the /var/log/messages file. Maybe it shows something unusual (=errors). In that case, you might perhaps need to boot with special parameters in order to stabilize your box.
