PLS HELP: Booting Mandriva 2006 FREE
dear linux users
I was hoping someone would be able to be offer some advice on a problem i'm having with the Mandriva 2006 FREE live disc. I can't seem to get the disc to boot without getting dropped to the shell. This is the information it reports:
Mounting loop image on /initrd/loopfs: mount: Mounting /dev/loop/0 on initrd/loopfs failed
:Invalid argument
[FAILED]
ERROR: Unable to mount loop filesystem, Droppping you to a limited shell.
Commands were:
losetup /dev/loop/0 initrd/cdrom/livecd.sqfs
mount -r -t squashfs /dev/loop/0 initrd/loopfs
Loading /initrd/bin/ash
BusyBox v1.01
Enter help for commands
/initrd/bin/ash: can't access tty; job control turned off.
$
I hope this information can help somebody. i dont understand any of it! I would love to try it out though so if you could offer some advice i'd definately appreciate that.

Either trysome of the boot options at the initial boot prompt ie linux noapic nolapic acpi=off or try burning the iso image again at a slower speed.

The errors you got are an indication that you apparently got a bad burn. Burn the CD-image again at a lower speed.
