Problems with DNS
Howzit guys,
Thanx for this great forum site!!!
I've use used linux for a few months now. only recently switched to mandriva 06.
The problem i have is this:
I've setup a hosting server. Everything runs fine. I've setup webmin, ispconfig, apache ,php, sql, etc...... thats fine!
now i have to setup the dns (used bind) on my machine, which i called home.mandriva.co.za just for a trial. that also went well, but i'm sitting behind a router. im running static ip's on mandriva , first 1 is 192.168.1.3 on the physical device, then the 2nd one 192.168.1.4 on a virtual device.
when i try to ping the nameserver - - -no reply, i cant access it.
can anyone help please, thanx all

Conflict with the real mandriva.co.za?
I'm not sure I understand your network configuration, but it's very odd that you would name your server home.mandriva.co.za, unless you have registered that domain, which I'm guessing you have not.
There is a real server named mandriva.co.za, so it seems possible that there is a conflict.

Disable the firewall for now and try to ping again.
