cdrecord problems, mandriva 2006 kernel 2.6.x
Hello, The problem is the following:
I´ve recently updated to mandriva 2006 free form mandrake 10.0 community. Since the update i´ve haven´t been able to burn cd´s (any type) unless i become root (full switch no su) and choose a very low writing speed (2x). Before the update i could burn with speed of up to 8x with no buffer under run (same hardware).
I´ve used the k3bsetup tool for the permission to no avail. I´ve also used chmod to change the permission of the cdrecord bin.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is your user added to the cdwriter group? If not, try that one. It should solve the problem.

Open the MCC (aka "Configure your computer) → System → Users → Modify user → and adjust the permissions there. There MUST be a cdwriter group.

Thanks a lot

Ok, what are the permissions and ownership on those : /usr/bin/cdrdao, /usr/bin/cdrecord, /usr/bin/cdrecord.mmap, /usr/bin/cdrecord.shm ?
?Code:ls -l /usr/bin/cdrdao ls -l /usr/bin/cdrecord*
