how to remove icon from desktop?
I have search around inside my system or google around outside to find right one, but I can't... I might overlook the instruction...
I am using Gnome 2.12 and I can't remove floppy icon on my desktop! this one is stubborn!! Hope anyone have experience with difficult or simple repair??

I don't use Gnome so can't say for sure, but here's another thread on it so maybe one of these solutions will work for you:

Unmount the floppy drive as root. That's all you have to do.

Thanks... Mind my asking how to type in unmount floppy? I am still fair with type in root.. Su then password as root, then ??? for unmount??

If your device is mounted at /mnt/floppy, just run
Code:sudo umount /mnt/floppy
