gee imagine that.. problems with ATI card
hey everyone. I searched through the posts previously on this topic and saw some glimmers of hope on this standard problem. But so I don't screw things up I figured I would play it safe and post my config and see if anyone could help. Not quite sure how to fix how slow 3d apps load and run. I have not installed the ati drivers since I've personally experienced how quick they can wreck a kernel in the blink of an eye. Below is everything I could think of covering.
*my system
64 bit sempron 3400+
1.5 gigs ram
ATI 9700 pro agp 128mb
*Seems to read my card as dual head in this manner

you said it. my solution for ATI driver issues is to remove the card and put in an nVidia. I'm not buying ATI stuff anymore.gee imagine that.. problems with ATI card
- 07-30-2006 #3Me neither. Even if you get the drivers working, sooner or later they break: in my case following an upgrade to my X software. Better to use NVidia imho.

well so far the consensus is to ditch the ati card. Well if anyone is interested, I found this for getting out of the dreaded ATI pit of despair.. worth thinking about. A nice agp geforce 6600 for under $90 with overall good reviews.
guess I'll be diggin up my fx5200 ... yuk...
