How to get resolution 1024*768 after NVidia driver installation
I downloaded the NVidia driver script and installed it in my machine. now i know its installed successfully because i get the NVidia splash screen at startup. But i cant get it to resolution 1024 768 so half of my screen is is only visible when i move my mouse to the corner of the screen. cause then it moves to display the rest of the screen.
i tried XFdrake and display properties in KDE but both already show im havin 1024 768. But believe me it does not.
i followed the installation steps in the nvidia site to the letter and ran nvidia-xconfig also.
My new VGA is NVidia GForce 6600 (Gigabyte card with nvidia chipset)
Pleeeeese help!

Check your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file. In the Monitor section make sure the HorizSync and VertRefresh are the correct values for your monitor and also check the Screen section and what modes are available for your default depth and add 1027 x 768 if necessary. If you have to make changes then be sure to backup original first.
