I have a similar problem, but not entirely the same...

My laptop usually change to the headphones when I put them in, but SOMETIMES it keeps playing on the speakers, killing all sound output and reloading snd_had_intel fixes the problem.

As I'm the only one in my office that doesn't hate metal, and I don't notice that my speakers are playing until someone starts yelling, I'm starting to get quite paranoid about it

    - Another thing is that sound sometimes doesn't work at all (I can usually provoke this into happening by taking the headphones in and out a few times).

    I use Ubuntu 6.10 (2.6.17 SMP) on a Latitude D620 (Core 2/ Intel 82801G).

    Thanks in advance,
    Dennis Du Krøger
