Where did this password come from?
I am trying to log in to Linux, and I am getting to a screen that requests a password. I have never been prompted to create this password, so I have no idea what it is.
I have reset the root password, but this is for a user account.
Can anyone help me out?

If you install Mandriva, you are asked to set up user and root passwords, except if you used the Mandriva ONE beta release, which - as a beta release and thus not stable - had a broken usermanagement package.
