how do i get the updates to work?
pardon my ignorance,...
i just installed the 2007 free mona dvd
how does one go about setting this up to do updates, or how about a manual update?
i see to be running into a prblem where in order to get updates i have to pay and get an activation key or something.
i think i found the manual option under "configure your computer" however,
when i try to add a site to update from, no matter what site i choose, i get this error message...:
Unable to add medium, errors reported:
...retrieving failed: curl failed: exited with 9 or signal 0
unable to access first installation medium (no hdlists file found)
is there another way to update mandriva?
or how do i get it to work?
many thanks..
Harold

Go to this site: http://easyurpmi.zarb.org/
and set up Cooker mirrors with it. Copy and paste the entries into your terminal, as explained there. Once you have done that, launch as root:
urpmi --auto-select
After a few days, you will need to sync to the cooker mirrors again for getting the latest updates, thus type
urpmi.update -a && urpmi --auto-select
That's all you need to do for updating your cooker-partition.Windows free since 2002 | computing since 1984

Mandriva 2007 is currently a development (testing) release, so there will be no update channels setup by Mandriva until the release of the stable 2007 version. In the mean time, you can go to Easyurpmi and setup the main, contrib and plf repos for the cooker version (development version of Mandriva). This will allow you to upgrade to newer packages but there is a risk that things may break on your system.
