Hi,
I am not able to configure my motorola sb5100 modem in the mandrake linux.I want to make my browsing bug free that i am trying my level best to configur ethe modem in linux.My modem is USB driven.Is that a problem.

Generally speaking support for USB modems is patchy. They also use a certain amount of CPU overhead while they're working. I would recommend using a router/modem instead. Wired or wireless, it's up to you.
If you use Google to locate drivers for your modem you might get somewhere, but no guarantees.
You mention 'Mandrake'. You would be better, if you're starting from scratch, to wait for Mandriva 2007. A more up-to-date kernel with more drivers is often a good idea. Or you might decide to use Mandriva 2006, which is quite stable by now.I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso
