Help me!!

I need some serious help. i just installed mandriva discovery. and i can not install anything. and i have no idea how to. also, iam trying to find a good messaging program and music program so a few reccomendations would be nice.

i know i will like linux better than windows but i seriosuly have no idea what i am doing. if there are any resources out there that are sort of all inclusive on basic functions of linux especially the mandriva discovery i would be very greatful.
