I'm totaly new to Linux, but I'm catching on. I am in the process of installing the dirver for my wifi. I have the Atheros wifi card and the driver. I have the driver archive extracted into my home folder and a prompt open to that directory. In following the install walkthrough at http://madwifi.org/wiki/UserDocs/Fir...vingoldmodules

when it asks me to set my devices down, they are not found. The thing is when I do a lspci it shows that I have the device:

00:09.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications, Inc. AR5212 802.11abg NIC (rev 01)

so why aren't the "ifconfig ath0 down" and "ifconfig wifi0 down" commands working here.
