I typed that in the console but it did not do anything.. do i type it somewhere else?

Find out if your name server is configured correctly. Type the following
command into a terminal.

nslookup google.com

This will tell you if names are resolving to IP addresses, and the
address of the name server you are using. The name server is
configured in the file /etc/resolv.conf
