different kernels nvidia driver installation
i just install mandriva 2007 free on this computer
to install nvidia drivers for my 7300gs, i know that something with the kernel must match
the commands
uname -r
and
ll /usr/src/linux
give me two different numbers
uname -r gives me
2.6.17-5mdv
and ll /usr/src/linux gives me
kernel-tmb-source-stripped-2.6.17.13-4
when i go to install the nvidia drivers, i run the file and it gives me a message about my kernel and how it will connect to nvidia ftp to download something. it says nothing matches, and then says it will compile its own kernel, but then it tells me it cant and installation is canceled
how do i fix this?

did u dowload the latest NVIDIA drivers from nvidia.com???
one important thing u must have the sourcecode of this linux...distro
then if u have these specifications...while loadin the linux ,in da boot loader select the failsafe mode
u r sys gets the cursor blinkin...der u type init 3 which is textual mode of linux....
then u`ll have shell prompt somethin which looks in this way
name@home$
become a super user and install the drivers by sh followed by the linux drivers
then u can install ya graphics card....
