dear all brothers and sisters,
i have really gone through a hundreds of web pages and see lots and lots descriptions about how to configure the ipw220 in mandriva, but still........i couldnt yet get my card works......
Mandriva 2007.0
Intel Wireless PRO 2200BG
wht i have tried on:
1. install the subsystem ieee80211
2. install the latest driver (1.2.0) from ipw2200.sf.net
3. install the latest firmware (3.0) also from ipw2200.sf.net/firmware
p.s. should i unzip it to /lib/firmware or /lib/hotplug/firmware ???
4. config it in control center....didnt work, it prompts that couldnt find a interface by that firmware
i have also tried on using the ndiswrapper, didnt work also.......
i couldnt find my eth1 shown on the iwconfig until i "modprobe ipw2200" though i dont know whts the meaning of that command
when i see the dmesg as root, this about ipw2200

ipw2200: Copyright(c) 2003-2006 Intel Corporation

Why do all of this when you can simply install IPW2200 (the firmware that is) directly from Mandriva package manager ? You only need to install the firmware, as both ipw2200 driver and ieee80211 system are integrated into the kernel.
With Mandriva One 2007, IPW2200 worked out-of-the-box for me, without any configuration."To express yourself in freedom, you must die to everything of yesterday. From the 'old', you derive security; from the 'new', you gain the flow."

I am very sorry to let all of you get confused, actually Mandriva 2007 is the perfect OS, its really built with the ipw2200 driver, reason that i couldnt get my WLAN working just because my card is NOT WORKING!!!!!!
SUCK the INTEL!!!!!!
i have to plug-off the mini-PCI WLAN card during power-on and replug it again once again dureing POWER-ON!!
and all getting works now~~~
THX~
