Mandriva Free and desktop resolution
This is my third foray into linux....
Now i have a question
I have an ATI X850XT PE PCI-e video card and a Chimei 17inc LCD panel (which is connected by DVI, on the primary port).
I have used the system configuration to set the display to 1280 X 1024 flat panel and my max resolution to this as well. when i right on the desktop and navigate to its settings. my resolution is 640 X 480 and my refresh rate is some weird negative number.
Would this change if i installed the ati drivers (which i know are notoriusly difficult..) but i have done this before on mandrake 9. if i reinstall do which display settings would be recommended.
PS my is system is
Gigabyte GA-8I945P PRO
Intel D940 Cpu
2 Gig Ram
sound is onboard.
winfast dtv1000 tv card
pioneer dvd drive.

I'd recommend installing the ATI drivers.
