Need a permissions walkthrough
Ok, I can't install files for some reason. Well, I don't really know how to, but it keeps giving me an "access denied" message when trying to install Wine.
When I log in as root, it gives me a different error and still doesn't let me do it. Says something about it missing permissions.

Dang! Now not only that, but I've lost the title bar on all windows!! That means that I can no longer close or move any windows I open, as even the taskbar is covered by one window that opens at startup. I am at a complete loss.
EDIT: less of a problem, but for some reason Kontact won't sign me out when I shut down Linux... when I go back to windows, I'm signed in as myself in Yahoo. I can see myself on my buddy list, and even talk to myself. (which is kind of fun)

You might be able to fix your window problem by configuring your window layout in the control center.
As for the permission thing, try checking your run level (there are 6 run levels I think).
You can switch between them by typing this in the console:
> su init (and the run level number)
Try 'su init 3' and see what happens.

Been a while, I know. I finally did do that, but when I opened the "run console" thingy, it wouldn't let me type anything in. *sigh*
