Mandriva 2007 on a Medion MD6100
My brother has decided he wants to dual boot Windows/Linux as he likes the games for Linux and the fact that most software is free and he wouldn't have to nag Dad for this new game/program/whatever.
He is only ten, and is rather computer illiterate (and somewhat ignorant :P). I figured I'd get it running for him, but I'm at a tossup between MyahOS 2.3 and Mandriva 2007.
First of all, I want a full featured OS where I don't have to do much work to get it running as I don't want to waste my time on him. xD What are the disadvantages of the Free edition?
If I was to pay for it, would I expect everything to work on his Medion MD6100 laptop? He uses the Belkin PCMCIA wifi card that came with his machine, and he can't use ethernet. Will this be a problem? Sorry, I don't have exact details on his card.
MyahOS sure does look nice, but then, I was a fan of Mandrake 9.2 back in the day, so I'm not giving up on it yet!
Thanks.
