mandriva 2006 won't mount NAS samba mount properly...please help!
hey all

i've got a few servers and have recently added a network attached storage (NAS) device as an extra backup mount. it has one password protected samba share called "public" (without the quotes).
this can be accessed with no problems from my laptop (ubuntu edgy), mail server (slack 10.2) and file server (slack 10.2) but when i try and mount the drive on my desktop (mandriva 2006) it behaves very strangely.
when the drive is properly mounted it should only display one folder (backup) which contains the rest of the data on the drive but when it's mounted by the mandriva box the file listing is as follows
instead of-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 128101314440000000 Oct 24 1940 ?:255f?*
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 128101314440000000 Oct 24 1940 w?:255f?*
on all the other machines.drwxr-xr-x 9 1000 1000 4096 Nov 4 11:09 backup/
the line in my mandriva box's /etc/fstab reads
been messing with this for ages but can't find an answer so if anyone out there has a clue then please get posting//10.0.0.5/public /mnt/mini smbfs password=*****,username=col 0 0
cheers
