    how i make a short cut to the Disktop ?

    If you are using KDE, you can right click on an empty space on the desktop -> Create New -> Link To Application. A dialogue box will show up and you need to select an icon, enter the name of the short cut and enter the command to run the program which in this case should be just "opera".

    You can use the "whereis" or "which" commands e.g.
    Code:
    $which opera
    shows the following output on my system
    Code:
    /usr/bin/opera
    Sometimes you have to look at the installation directory to find out names of executables and use full pathnames when creating shortcuts.
