shutdown problem
i am new to linux so be gentle!
i am running mandravia 2007 on a64 bit amd machine. its running fine and everything seems to working ok except when i go to shutdown it only gives me an option to end the session, and the only way to shutdown is press the reset.
i can't seem to find out whats wrong.
please help!

the usual command is: "shutdown -h now"the sun is new every day (heraclitus)

still have a problem
i tried "shutdown -h now" and it does try to shutdown and seems to go all through the normal stuff then just hangs it says shutdown and just hangs with a flashing cursor.
It does say one thing in shutdown sequence which i don't no if its significant or not "warning disable_ipvb=yes in shorewall.conf but this system does not appear to have ipbtables"
Any help would be great
