I just installed Mandriva Linux and when I try to run startx, it gives me a "no screens found" error, yet it found and configured all of my hardware settings including the video card. (I run a Radeon x800). Please Help....please.

execute this
look for Section 'Device' "Video Driver". set Driver value to "vesa".Code:su nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf
save file and execute startx again.Code:Section "Device" identifier "Video Card" busid "PCI:1:0:0" driver "vesa" screen 0 EndSection
It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.

Tried it
When I switch to vesa, I get a black screen, before I get the command prompt.

"veas" is a generic driver and it should work. switch back to 'radeon'. post the Monitor and Screen sections of xorg.conf file here.

When I click on the TEST option after the video card configuration, it says, "(EE) No devices detected."
