ancient version error gtk-gnutella

Installed gtk-gnutella RPM fine... Can't run it. From console says: "*** ANCIENT VERSION DETECTED! ***

Sorry, this program is too ancient to run without
an explicit user action: If it's not possible to upgrade
you may edit the file

/home/sickparasite/.gtk-gnutella/config_gnet

and set the variable "ancient_version_force" to
"gtk-gnutella/0.96.1 (2006-02-22; GTK2; Linux x86_64)".

You will then be able to run this version forever, but
please consider upgrading, as Gnutella is an evolving
network in which ancient software is less useful or even
harmful!

So i edited the file to say " ancient_version_force = "gtk-gnutella/0.96.1 (2006-02-22; GTK2; Linux x86_64)" the file stays this way until i try to run the program it automatically takes "gtk-gnutella/0.96.1 (2006-02-22; GTK2; Linux x86_64)" out and is blank again. Tried deleting the original file and replacing it but to no avail - it still changes back.

What would cause this and what can be done about it?

You might want to find a more up-to-date version of gnutella and install that? Where did you get that old version from?
