boot issues
I just installed mandriva Discovery and When I try to boot (in text mode) I see these details:
error opening /dev/console!!!!: 2
unmounting old /proc
unmounting old /sys
switchroot: mount failed: 22
initrd finished
Kernel panic - not synching: attempted to kill init!
after this line the system just hangs indefinitely. What should I do?
Thanks in advance.

Hi - I had a bit of a search around using Google, and it might be a problem with RAID if you have that onboard somewhere? Something similar was discussed on the Mandriva Club forum here.
A call to the panic() routine is quite interesting ... Apparently the routine can beep S.O.S. in morse code on your computer. Live and learn.
I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso

thanks for the reply. I use multiple hard disks (just the two) but not in a raid config. (neither logical or physical). But i agree that the output that user got is errily similar to the one i am getting. any other thoughts?
thanks again
