Hello fellow linux users
i have just put mandriva on my laptop (dual boot with windows) anyway, im having trouble finding the shut down button
can anyone help me?

just to add, i have used SUSE and UBUNTU before, so im a little familiar with the linux interface

im new to mandriva to and im using the kde version -- mine is on the taskbar at the bottom, it's the "star" --> then logout. then you get the option to shutdown/restart/etc....
dunno if that helps.

Hi,
I have looked down there, and the only option i have is end session...i have changed the button (supposadly) to shut down. my friend says i have to restart it, unfortunately, i dont have that option.
Any suggestions

Hi - yes, there are some threads about this already. You need to install or enable KDM (the KDE log-in manager). What you have at the moment is XDM which doesn't give you the options to shutdown that you want.
If you go to the Mandriva Control Centre (mcc) and search under boot options (or similar) you should see what you have installed.I am always doing that which I can not do, in order that I may learn how to do it. - Pablo Picasso

or simply use the command "poweroff" or if that is unavailable, use "shutdown -h now"
