I am unable to rip my CDs to MP3 format. I have tried Grip, Audacity and Amorak. I have tried to install LAME3 but without success. Any suggestions would be welcome. Apart from this, Mandriva Powerpack is excellent.
Many thanks.

What seems to be the problem with Lame? How are you trying to go about installing it?

Hello Bryan
LAME3 was downloaded as tar.gz and I have a problem installing this type of program. I know how it should be done but can never manage it. RPM is so much simpler. However, I shall keep trying.
Many thanks.

Try this:
- Go here and follow the instructions to set up urpmi (the package manager for Mandriva)
- After that is done, try the following as root from the command line:Hope that helps!Code:urpmi lame
