Graphical Login Looping
I just installed Mandrake 10.0 and it went fine for about an hour.
We were never able to "start x" it just froze up, solid blue screen. So my friend told me to use "gdm" or "kdm" which was the part that was working fine. I got home from work, and upon trying to load gdm it gave error "you x windows session has lasted less the 10 seconds, this could be a sign of an installtion problem" straight back to graphical login. And then when I try to login there... it goes black... and bounces back to same screen. kdm also brings back same results.
Any suggestions would be kindly appreciated.

Are you loggin on as a new user? Or as root?
I recently had this same problem. I could log on as root but not as my new user account. Something must have buggered up when I created the account. To fix it, I logged on as root, removed the new user:
and then added it back in:Code:userdel username
I logged out and was able to successfully log in as the new user.Code:useradd -m -d /home/username username
This may not be the same thing that you're experiencing, but it fixed it for me.\"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler.\"

It happens as both root & user. So, sadly that is probally not the answer.
I have also lost the "gdm" & "kdm" commands as I tried to reinstall, and I have no clue what I was doing.
this person seems to have the same problem...
do I just need to configure the video card???
