Cannot get sound working properly...
My question pertains specifically to PCLinuxOS 2007, but it's Mandriva based so I'm hoping you can lend me a hand. I've got the same question posted on the PCLOS forum and so far nobody's been able to help. I've get a fresh install on a Toshiba Satellite A105, and everything is working great with the exception of the sound - when I have it at all, it's HORRIBLY distorted. I just fired it up and got the following message: "Sound server informational message: Device: default can't be opened for playback (no such device) The sound server will continue using the null output device."
The sound device is a Intel I/O controller hub high definition audio. With the driver PCLOS detected for it, I get terrible distortion; with other drivers I get nothing. I'd appreciate any help you can give to get this set up.
Thanks
