connection woes

Hello and thank you for reading and/or helping me

Ive installed mandriva 2007 on my friend pc and wow it worked no hardware issues!
BUT
firefox times out and will bring a website back about once every five goes
and updating cant connect to the ftp repos or whatever they are.
yes ive gone and done the easyurpmi and still no change

i can however connect via konkoar(i know wrong spelling)
What gives?
im not behind a proxy, Im on adsl (slow at the moment but adsl none the less)

Ive ajusted the timeout settings to longer(no difference)
Im also wondering where i can get updates to the public keys(rpg_pubkey things)

sometimes i wish linux would work like i rave about it.

though my mate does like it and weve got wobbly windows!! lol
little bit of a pain getting cds to work if theyve got programs on them sometimes. amarok is awsome!

hey guys it was ipv6 that was causing the problem. what is it with linux and ipv6?
its like one of the main problems with alot of dists.

updates and everything works now YAY!
