how to play DVD?
i installed mandriva and cant play dvds and no matter how hard i try it just doesnt works.

You need to install libdvdcss. First you have to go to easyurpmi and follow the instructions to setup the various main, contrib, updates and plf repos. After that start the GUI software manager and search for libdvdcss, then select it for installation.

help????
i am not sure what architecture and package manager i need.and then it tells me to type something in console which i did and it says cant run the command.please help me with this as i am new to linux and have no idea how it works

Install mandriva 2007 free DVD to solve your problem
Try to install mandriva 2007 free DVD version . DVD playback plugins come by defult in mandriva 2007. I installed mandriva 2007 full installation and now i can play DVDs Both on Totem and Kmplayer.
