amule install error
i downloaded and tried to install amule on the advice of someone in the forum
and i got this error message:
Some package requested cannot be installed:
amule-2.0.1-2.rtr205.i586 (due to unsatisfied libwx_baseu_xml-2.6.so.0)
do you agree ?
does anyone know what this means and/or how to fix it?
you need to install wxbase (and wxgtk if you haven't already)
i am using mandriva 2005 LE/10.2, and am having trouble installing amule (2.0.1). system requires wxbase (or wxgtk?) 2.6.0.
My only experience is installing rpm's, so having downloaded wxbase/wxgtk from wxwidgets site (as advised above), i haven't a clue how to install this. Would appreciate guidance on this...i'm not familiar with using console, etc.
I am also aware of possibility of installing via easy urpmi website, but must apologise as I can't grasp the concept of how this works either (am at work as i type using Win XP so can't experiment).
I've installed previous versions of amule on previous versions of mandrake, using available wxbase file from amule website (but this doesn't seem available at the moment as an rpm) and it just worked...so am somewhat frustrated.
hope someone can help with step by step guidance, it would be most appreciated.
i switched from winxp for the main reason it could not be used on more than 1 computer.
anyway, read this post that i put forward a little while back
this helped me to learn how to install applications with Linux.
i think WxBase requires you to compile it :?
Note: for the .tar.gz file thing i found that the "jzxl" thing conflicts
just omit the z and it should work.
there is quite a high possiblity that you will come across an error (i have in just about every program i have had to compile).
hopefully this will give you some guide to installing programs under Linux
any problems just post back here (i have checked my posts every day this week)
