Boot up

Hello. I am completely new to any linux distro. It gave hell of a problem to install but I managed to do it. Now when I turn on the pc. It gives me some options:

Linux
linux non-fs(something like that)
263-7 ('' '' '')
failsafe


all of them take me to a screen where alot of checking occurs then it reponds with alot of "ok". After that happens my screen goes black and just stays there it seems as if my pc is loading (b/c of the light) at the beggining but then it doesnt go anywhere. What did I do wrong?
