Help please....I am new to linux and so far everything has been great except that I cannot seem to get my dvd/cd drive to work properly. If I insert a CD, nothing will mount on the desktop and music cd's give me the following error "CD ROM read/access error, make sure you have permissions to access /dev/hdc/"
Any ideas on what to do to correct this?

You may not have permissions for your cd/dvd device. Could you post the contents of your /etc/fstab file please?

i hav the same problem of not mounitn the cd...though it was mounted but my cd rom got failed n then i use another cd rom, from then this problem arises...what shld i do?? remember this cdrom is absolutely okay bcz i checked it in windows n it functions properly!
like bryansmith said, can you post the contents of the /etc/fstab file here.
/dev/hdc3 swap sawp default 0 0
That is just the entry for your swap partition. Could you please post the whole thing?
