ESTABLISHED connections,,what are they..??
I am just new to Linux,,I am still trying to find out what active connections I should allow to the net,,?
When I type in 'netstat -a' I get a list of connections...
There are 3-4 main ones,,and about 30 other established connections that I dont understand..
--Active UNIX domain sockets (servers and established)--
there are names like ICE-unix,,,dcop,,,ksocket,,famsocket,,ORBIT and X11...can somone explain to me what the hell these things are doing and what security I should take as they have a lot of ESTABLISHED connections,,,,
PS. I have IPTABLES locked up fairly safely until I understand
what services or processes are taking place..
Any links or tips to point me in the right direction would be appreciated,,,I have done a bit of google but I am obviously searching for the wrong subjects.
