How do I install FrostWire on Mandriva?
thanks
What's Frost Wire? Sounds like the title of a children's book. :D
Just like Limewire. Limewire would be fine. Can someone help with the install of limewire?
I get an error message: j2re >= 1.4.1 is needed by LimeWire-free-4.12.3-0.i386
Thanks
I don't know the exact official procedure, but you could download the "Ubuntu/Debian" package from here :
http://www.frostwire.com/index.php?title=Main_Page
Then convert it to a Mandriva package (.rpm) like that :
Then install the resulting package (as root) :Code:fakeroot alien -r FrostWire-4.10.9-2.i586.deb
Make sure you have Java installed before doing that.Code:rpm -i frostwire-4.9.11-2.noarch.rpm
You need to install Java first :Quote:

The requested URL /sources/official/2006/i586/j2re-1.5.0.5-1.2006mcnl.i586.rpm was not found on this server.
Apache Server at www.mandrivaclub.nl Port 80
I get this message. I would assume they moved the file. They are good for that.
Check this out Download the Linux rpm to your desktop. Right click on it and choose Open With>Software installer
Install it (you'll need to enter your password) then open a terminal and type limewire. Go through the setup procedure. As you now know, you need Java installed. Good luck!
They just upgraded version, the link is now :Quote:

Thanks, I got the j2re going. Now for the *.deb package. alien fake root? Do I need to get a program called alien?
Yop, you would need to install both "fakeroot" and "alien" using Mandriva package management. They should be in Mandriva repositories.Quote:
