my NIC is burnt and i cant buy one. can we make it work on usb. it works fine on windows. thanks
i really dont know if this will work, but you could give it a go. download and install ndiswrapper, either via urpmi ndiswrapper or going to sourceforge and downloading it. and then load the windows driver to use that card.
Once again, let me reiterate, i do not know if this will work, but i think it is worth a shot.
a bit better. im new i think i have the wrapper program
Ok then, copy the windows driver from your cdrom onto your hard drive and then tell ndiswrapper the location of the driver, it should then load it and you should be in theory be able to configure it.
see the ndiswwrapper homepage for more info.
i think i loaded the driver but what do i do with it now?
now you configure it, goto MCC -> hardware and click on the hardware option, select your network card and select configure module.
sorry im to new for these things remember my NIC is burnt dead
Oh wait, did you mean a computer to computer connection via usb? i dont know if this is possible under linux. Sorry, i think i might have misread your question.
Just use my usb modem to connect to the internet.
Oh, ok so you wish to use your USB dialup modem to connect to internet. In that case, you will need to follow he tutorial here about setting up winmodems under linux http://www.linuxforums.org/tutorials...rial-3100.html and get the drivers for the modem from here www.linmodems.org
