Help with video
I have just loaded Mandrake Community 10.1 on a system I had laying around. It is a PIII 733, 512MB of RAM. Originally I used the onboard video card (Cyberblade or something along those lines). In any case, I think that video card is having problems. After it has been running a while, I start getting artifacts on the screen along with other distortions. I have a Voodoo3 laying around that I put in one of the slots to use in place of the onboard card. Now when I start up KDE, the screen is so messed up, I can't even see what it is doing. Is there a "safe mode" so to speak on Linux where I can configure the card so the GUI will display properly? I hope that made some sense. :D Thanks for the help! 8)
why don't you try configuring it from a terminal
press alt+f2 and login and you can configure from there
In case you can't tell, you are dealing with a n00b.
At what point do I press f2? And where do I go to edit the video card settings? Thanks!
