How do I get USB Wi-Fi to work on 2010 Spring?
I have a D-Link DWL-G122 USB Wi-Fi dongle plugged into my computer, however, I can't seem to get it to work with Mandriva Linux 2010 Spring (it worked fine with 2010 before I did a clean install). I thought it would have been recognized and automatically set up as I ensured it was plugged in during the installation process. ???
If I go to the 'System' menu --> 'Administration' --> 'Configure Your Computer' --> 'Network and Internet' --> 'Set up a new network interface' --> 'Wireless (Wi-Fi) --> 'wlan0: Ralink 802.11 bg WLAN' and then click 'Next', I'm given the following message:
Some packages (rt73-firmware) are required but aren't available. These packages can be found in Mandriva Linux One, Mandriva Linux Powerpack, or in the official non-free package repository.
The following component is missing: /lib/firmware/rt73.bin
The required files can also be installed from this URL:
I tried going to that site but I don't understand how I'm supposed to download and install it. Is there any easier way? I put the install DVD in hoping that it would maybe install the driver. I'm kind of confused as 2010 Spring is supposed to make managing wireless connections easier ???
Thanks in advance.
