Mandrake 10.2 install!

HI everyone, i just got mandrake 10.2 limited edition 2005, i have got a hp compaq nx6120, the installation went smooth, but no gui , when i go for start x some error messages come and no gui, what is the command to configure my display and all , plus when i shut down my system , after killing all it halts syaing that system is shuttung down and hangs! do please help.

The issue is that you didn't configure graphics during the install. If you reinstall, then just remember to configure the graphics, its an easy fix and mandriva is a pretty short install, assuming you didn't update it.

If you don't want to re-install you could run these commands:

You only need one of these, they are Window managers. The best in my opinion is gdm, xdm is very ugly and kdm is not as functional or customizable. This may or may not fix your problem but I would really recommend just re-installing. This is only if you don't want to re-install.

become a superuser, and run XFdrake:

XFdrake can be run in non-graphical mode and will allow you to configure and test your system's graphics before starting X.
