Mandriva Pendrivelinux problem

Hi there,
i downloaded mandriva pendrivelinux from Boot and run Linux from a USB flash memory stick | USB Pen Drive Linux and installed into my 4GB pen drive. It was fine but unfortunately, it has no gcc. I want to install gcc either by a command or by downloading apprpriate rpm package. Please help me.
Also I want to change the default wall paper. If you have any idea about it help me.

I found urpmi command is useful. But when I type urpmi gcc then it asks 27MB(Y/n). I typed Y and pressed enter. But an error message shows urpmi database is not updated. Help me
