Mdkupdate problem

I get this daily message from the cron daemon:

[mdkupdate] No active Online service found for this host.

I have tried running mdkonline from the command line and running through the update wizard, which seemed to work OK. But when I run 'mdkupdate --auto' I get the same message again.

Trusty old google gets me out of most scrapes but is no help at all with this error message. Any ideas what I can do to resolve this?
