Microphone not working in Mandriva 2006

Hi all,

I am new to this forum.
I have installed skype in my linux pc (Mandriva 2006)-- Dell Latitude D620
I am able to hear from others ..but others are not able to hear me
I am using GNOME
I have tried to record sound using Sound Recorder. But not working.

I am not sure abt the internal configurations of the microphone.
Let me know , is there any configurations required.

when i run alsamixer, and mover to InputSource, the mic is not even active. I am not able to increase the sound.

Card : HDA Intel SigmaTel STAC9200

An update , my sound system is working .. i am able to hear songs.. also my microphone is working that i tested in another machine
