Monitor selection help please
Hi there everyone,
Recently coming back into using linux after about 5 years , lol yeah i know :P Anyway onto the question..
I decided to shoehorn myself back into it using the latest DvD official from mandrake. (10.1)
Im using a card with 2 outputs, On bootup to the gui login screen both screens show the login gui screen which is all good for starters, as in i thought at least it sees the sony hmd monitor and the flat screen.
Thing is when it then logs into the desktop (whatever one i use) it then swtiched off my largest of the 2 montiors (sony 19" which is on the main port for the card) the flat panel stays on and works as one would expect (using the secondry port on the card) I found that a bit odd, no matter what i can find to fiddle with i cant seem to at least get the other screen active..
I did notice going into the display config it says "You do not have the ability to use X rand it hink it was to resize your resolution installed etc etc. and then the multimonito tab also says i dont have the software installed to use this function.. ?
I though that on install it would of done all this seeing as its the latest nifty package from mandrake to include that powerpack etc.. Thing is if anyone can let me know what i might need installed to use this? As as far as i know what i got as in MdKxserver and the X server options u can choose for the distro dont seem to change anything at all for me..
Did try looking through the docs for dual display help but just dont see nothing of that sort, not even the find function will locate text with those words for me..
Thanks in advance to anyone who can at least point me in the right direction, so i can relax more and get on learning the linux os..
James..
