Network Configuration

Hi there.

I just fried a mother board. A quick experiment shows that by pulling the hard drive out and whacking it in another machine it boots up just fine (well almost).

It's not seeing the network. My guess is that it's configured for a network card that's not there anymore and I want it to use the new network card (which is actually built into the board).

Is that a valid guess?

If so, how do I go about teaching it about the new network stuff?

The only error message I think I can see during boot is something about ismod, but it zips past too quick to read the whole thing.

Any help will be GREAT help!

Bummer about the mb. :(

You can get the startup message with the dmesg command. As far as your network, you can use Mandrake Control Center to configure the new card. Go to New Connection and go through the wizard. It should detect your new card.

There is a check box setting under Cennection that says something like "start at boot". Is that checked?

There is no check box for starting at boot, at all.

Is it something under services, I'm supposed to turn on?

When you click on manage connections, there should be more then one tab. I think it's nder the second tab. If it's not there, then it's under configure connections.

There's definitely no check box for start at boot.

Running is Mandrake Control Center 0.70 which I know is quite old. I wonder if I need to update that somehow?
