PDF thumbnails - died
Recently Nautilus has stopped making those useful PDF thumbnails which are miniature images of the PDF document.
This was working fine on Gnome/Mandriva 2006 until a couple of days ago. Earlier files still have their thumbnail, but moving them to another directory for instance dumps the page minature thumbnail and goes back to the standard square icon with PDF written on it. Same for all users. All new PDF´s get the square icon.
Uninstalling & re-installing nautilus_thumbnailer-0.0.3 makes no difference. Any ideas on how to fix this greatly appreciated - maybe a switch somewhere?
Regards to all
Nobody seen this problem before?
Try with removing the .thumbnails folder in your /home directory, so it can be regenerated. If that doesn't work, remove the .nautilus folder, too.
Thanks, but this does not work. All image files are recreated OK even .mov, .avi but PDF is not created and this is a system wide problem - the same for all users including root. The PDF gets a standard square Icon and a failed thumbnail is added to .thumbnails/fail/gnome-thumbnail-factory
Nautilus threw a wobbly on a user desktop during moving some files and since then no more PDF page thumbnails. We have even removed Nautilus (and Gnome) from a KDE desktop and re-installed, but the problem is not solved - well and truly broken I think.
According to the package manager the PDF page thumnails are created by nautilus_thumbnailer-0.0.3. However removing this and reinstalling has no effect.
We use a lot of PDF´s and it is much easier to find the one you are looking for with a page thumbnail, so we miss this feature. There are a lot of gconf config files associated with thumbnails and we dont really want to damage too much. Is it possible that the MIME type for PDF has changed somehow?
